Foundation Fundraising Events & Programs

For most of us a safe and secure home environment is something we take for granted. Those who depend on shelters don’t have this same security.
The Foundation is making a real difference in the community and the lives of many who rely on shelters for warmth, comfort and safety. Money raised by the Foundation comes from a number of annual events.

REALTORS Care Foundation Motorcycle RIDE for Charity

The inaugural REALTORS Care Foundation Motorcycle RIDE for Charity was a 1,300 km ride from Toronto, Ontario to Nashville, Tennessee in July 2006. The 2006 RIDE raised $40,000 net. Riders took up the challenge and trekked from Central Ontario to the southern United States with pledge supports from OREA Past Presidents, the 2006 Board Presidents, Foundation Board of Directors, OREA Board of Directors, OREA staff and assistant from individual supports and the general public.

Each year, the RIDE has garnered growth in both participants and support. The 2011 REALTORS Care Foundation Motorcycle RIDE for Charity was July 13th - 15th with great success. We have raised over $35, 000 to date.

Jam with a Past President

OREA Past President Brian Walker hosts a jamming session usually in conjunction with another OREA event. This little event has raised over $23, 000 since its inaugural debut in 2007.

The Every REALTOR® Campaign

The “Every REALTOR® Campaign” has proven to be game changer for the Foundation, making it possible for us to give significantly more back to our communities, raising $70,616 the first year, $401,218 in 2008, $474,167 in 2009 and $551,460 in 2010.

Foundation Wine Program

We have partnered with Savvy Company; the team of accredited Sommeliers from Savvy Company features a variety of hand-picked wines from Ontario wineries. Their Sommeliers visit Ontario wineries frequently, looking for delicious wines to put the “Savvy Selections” seal of approval. Every time you order one of these wines you support the REALTORS Care Foundation.

Boards and Association Fundraising 

Many of our Boards and Associations also contribute funds from their successful fundraising events that support the Foundation.

How your support of the events helps

Proceeds of the Foundation’s annual events support shelter-related causes. By participating in the events you are helping thousands of Ontarians who need temporary or permanent shelters due to homelessness, domestic violence and disabilities.

The money raised ensures Ontarians who are in need of shelter have a place to call home, it helps build homes through organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and it helps those who may find themselves living on the streets with a place to go for warmth and comfort.

Not having a stable place to live is an enormous burden for those who are working hard to put their lives back together. A safe and affordable home is one of the first steps to getting families back on track.

The REALTORS Care Foundation helps people find a place to call home through its grants that support shelter-related causes.

100 per cent of your donation is invested to generate the income that is granted to these worthy causes. All administrative costs are underwritten by the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA).
